Design for Web - Scamps/ Crit

We were asked to develop a set of 5 questions that were open ended as oppose to closed questions which would pre-determine the viewers answer. Therefore my questions were as follows...

  • What could be clearer concerning the navigation of my 'Scamps'?
  • Do you think the websites would be too complex to produce in terms of html?
  • Are the designs appropriate for a broad audience?
  • Do you think a Sans-serif font would be more suitable for the character of the Paralympics?
  • Would a more text-based or more visual website be more appealing (considering the broad target audience?
  • Do you think the design should bare a stronger resemblance to my topic - the Paralympics? or could I just effectively incorporate this into my layouts?
  • Do you think I'd need a large header or could I incorporate the same effect through the colours and images/ layout?

Strengths

  • Everything looks thoroughly categorised but 3 is less clear, such as the links, maybe not as usable as 1 + 2
  • 2 looks interesting/ engaging, easy to navigate
  • The neatness works well with the precision of the layouts
  • All simple enough to be usable
  • Looks interactive but it's quite hard to judge without links etc
  • With words and colour all designs would work well and be easy to navigate
  • When there is content it will work well...
  • Design should stay as simple as possible to accommodate for the wide audience.
  • We think the honeycomb would work well with a bit of development!

Areas of improvement

  • Paralympics logo needs to be clear as soon as you look at the page
  • Needs to be clearer that its for the Paralympics
  • 4 looks interesting but if the plaque spins it might be a little distracting.

Final 'Scamps'

The colours are just a vague implication of the 'Paralympic' colours.
